Baby Boy Joseph

What a happy day when we welcomed baby Joseph to the Brown family on October 8, 2009 at home in Pearland! This was their 7th baby and 1st home birth. Melissa and Jonathan had come to me early in her pregnancy and planned to have a home birth. Unfortunately, Melissa had to go to the hospital for several weeks in the middle of her pregnancy because of preterm labor. When she got to 36 weeks, her doctor released her to come back to me. We planned for her to come to the birth center, but when labor started, there was no time. Her entire labor was about 35 minutes. I got there about two minutes after baby Joseph arrived. He was delivered by his own proud dad. Joseph weighed 7 pounds, 1 ounce and is totally full term!!! Good work, Melissa and Jonathan.

baby Alexa

Elise and Jason welcomed their second baby at home in Highlands on October 6, 2009. She weighed 7 lbs. 3 oz. Her big sister, Salah, is very excited to have her here. It has been more than 4 years since Salah was born and a lot of changes in between. This is the 8th baby I've delivered for Elise's family. What a joy.
I'd been out to see Elise early that morning and then left to come back later. She was born just a few minutes after I got back. Elise was a little disappointed that her labor took a little longer than the first one. We were expecting just the opposite. She took it all in stride and was very patient and never gave up. Alexa was worth the wait. Congratulations, Elise and Jason.

baby Riley

Diana and Tim welcomed their first baby to life at the Birth Center on October 5, 2009. She weighed 7 lbs. 13 oz. Diana was one of the quietest moms we've ever had in labor, but we knew she was working hard. Riley's dad, Tim was also born at home with another midwife. We are so happy to have a second generation of midwife- assisted babies. Welcome to this new family!

Baby Molly

Misti and Micah welcomed baby Molly 2 weeks early to their home in League City on October 4, 2009. She weighed 6 pounds, 6 ounces and is cute as a button. This is Misti's 5th baby and I got to help with 4 out of 5! Misti is my fellow La Leche League Leader, so she is very special to me (actually you are all special to me). Molly's siblings are, MaryGrace, Micah T, Madeleine, and Meredith.

Brandy and Cody and Annebeth

Brandy & Cody of Silsbee welcomed their 1st baby at the birth center on Sept 30, 2009 at 6:14 am. She weighed 7 lbs. and 9 oz. and is very cute. Brandi had to push for quite some time to get her baby out, but she was always making steady progress and she finally did it! Camellia and Dena delivered this one. I was with Melissa in Katy and got back just before Brandy's baby was born! What a happy moment that was after such a long night. First babies are always so exciting! Lots of loving grandmas.

Baby Margaret

Melissa & Casity welcomed baby Margaret on Sept. 30, 2009 at their home in the Katy area. She weighed 9lbs. and 0 oz. This was their 3rd baby and second home birth. Melissa's labor went slowly and slowed down for quite awhile. I came out to their house and stayed awhile and then left and came back in the middle of the night. It seemed like Melissa needed a quiet, dark, calm, safe place to give birth. Even though she was born very gently, baby Margaret cried and cried for the first hour or two after birth. She finally calmed down. She is welcomed by her sister, Katherine and brother, Andrew. All my best wishes.

Baby Boy Hudson

Big baby Hudson came to live with his family in Katy on September 21, 2009 at 1:27 am weighing 10 pounds, 0 ounces! He was born to Karri and Mark and 3 big sisters and two brothers. He was in a hurry to get here. He was born exactly 46 minutes after his mom called me and I got there just in time to help him in. This was Karri's first homebirth and she said again and again that everything was different this time. Karri's daughter, Holly was very interested in everything I did. Maybe she will be a midwife someday!
